Kick-drum-free and pianoforte framed, the Original version of “Home” supplied “ALMA” – Giuseppe Ottaviani’s most recent & celebrated long-player – with its tracklist swansong. It also formed a remarkably different platform for the voice of Jennifer Rene – showcasing the US singer’s talents in a hitherto unseen light.
As distinct as the changing of the seasons however, for his summer kiss-off Giuseppe’s brought “Home” back up on the mixing desk and retooled it. In a brilliant sleight of production hand, he’s shifted its centre of gravity, translating “Home” into a major league floor-rocker.
Giuseppe primes his OnAir uprush with with club-shifting bass, empyrean sub-melodies, sweeping pads and – post-break – elevating synth bursts. Centrestaged in the drop, Jennifer’s soulful voice and the fragile beauty of her song lose not an ounce of their bittersweet ability to stir. “Home” receives its turn to fly OnAir this week.
