¡Hola, Pablo!

Interview with KSX and Critical State Founder Pablo Anon

  1. How did the idea of starting a worlwide tour by Komplex Sounds?

Komplex Sounds started back on the 11.11.2011 with the vision to become a label group household name.  From the initial conception of Critical State back in Feb 2012 and many months in the planning and building a back catalogue we launched the first of the Critical Labels releases Solid State by Brian Flinn.  It reached number 1 on TrackItdown in three days; and top 30 in that same time.  The team knew then that if we played our cards right by the continued increase in the quality of releases and expanding its roster we would follow suit in a few short years to commence label nights in Australia.

As the touring and artist management relationships increased over recent years, so did the calibre of our events.  Merging with partners Sydney Trance (ST) and forming alliances with Genesis (Sydney) and Evolution Events (Melbourne) allowed us to launch Critical State in 2015 to capacity crowds at two of Australia’s premiere weekly trance nights.  KSX had reached its domestic goal, it was then realised that we could attempt what no other Australian Trance label has done, deliver a world tour.

  1. Which countries Critical State tour visited are the most important and which countries are the next?

It was definitely a highlight of my music career to see Critical State at one of the iconic clubs in the world, Sydney Home Nightclub @ Voodoo followed by the fanatical Melbourne support at Sanctuary by Evolution Events @ Room 680.  As Liam Wilson said to me after the Melbourne show…  “That gig was in my top three…” However it might be reasonable to assume that the next three legs might become my next highlights, with 4th December @ Mexico City, 5th December @ Melledin Colombia and finally the trance mecca and most passionate fans of the trance world 11th December in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

  1. Why did Komplex Sounds give the best part of the tour to the Latin American countries?

This is a great question, it is simple formula! Firstly know your demography. Secondly give your demography something fresh.  Thirdly give your demography what they want. Let’s take the Latin American Tour; Over 45 percent of our fans come from Central and South America, with 30 percent from Mexico alone.  So it logical to do something in the world’s most populated city; especially in Mexico where the last few years trance has suffered with cancelation of events.  We wanted to deliver to them something special to the #criticalarmy.  All Legs of the Latin tour has acts that haven’t played in those respective cities which people have been craving to see, and KSX with the collaboration of PFA, Militant Artists, Synergy Artists, Versatil and Team 140 Mexico & Argentina we have delivered.

  1. What can we expect from the tour in December through Latin America?

Quality Music, Quality artists that you would expect to see at the big production you expect from any major brand. In short mind-blowing sensory experience from the best of our artists like Photographer, Harmonic Rush, Allen & Envy, Jonathan Carvajal, Craig Connelly, Thomas Datt and hopefully I will be able to keep up with these class acts – LOL

  1. What are the plans of Komplex Sounds for 2016?

Another probing question.  I think the biggest change for KSX and the Critical Labels is the new 2016 branding, restructure of our A&R team headed by Matt Bowdidge.  He will become the new face of KSX in charge of delivering the next level of releases, spearheading CSR (Critical Sounds Radio) on AHFM. Already he has on back catalogue the next wave of releases that will take the trance world by storm with huge names on the list.  Cant disclose too much but all I can say is that Latin legs will be the first shows to have exclusive listen to these releases not yet in promo or preview anywhere, and  they are nothing short of world class. Heading the touring and administration we already working on 2016 tour which will consist of both continents, America, Europe and Australia and both myself and Matt will be selecting the elite acts to form the corner stone of all Critical Label touring artists for 2016.
